My Sisters Dream of Flying
So my soon to be 18 year old sister (Kerina) is in her final year of school and has always wanted to be a pilot. Unfortunately because it is so expensive and rare in South Africa for woman pilots, we had to convince her that maybe studying towards a degree in Information Technology or Computer Sciences is a better option. She refused to accept this option, but with the light at the end of the tunnel burning out, she didn’t really have a choice.
However I have been following WOAW and realised she is not the only one out there. There are a whole group of women chasing this dream and many people willing to help, encourage and support them along. This page gave me hope that she can still accomplish this childhood dream. Thank you for inspiring me as I am sure you have done with many other women.
With this new found inspiration I created a Facebook page to help my sister achieve her dream of becoming a pilot (https://www.facebook.com/pg/mysistersdream/).I am hoping we can get information from other companies/ people in the industry or the funds we need to help her reach her goals. At least we can make people aware of this plight of women if nothing else and I hope every young girl gets inspired to never give up and always reach for the skies, literally.
I would like to share this story on your page and help my sister in any way possible.
